Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has invited for the recruitment of 1871 (One Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy-one) numbers of Medical Officer .Interested and eligible candidates can apply here.

Medical Officer (Assistant Surgeon): 

Total Number of vacancies: 1871 (One Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy-one) 
Category wise vacancies: 
  • UR- 196 nos
  • SEBS- 114 nos
  • SC- 576 nos
  • ST- 985 nos

Other Eligibility criteria for OPSC Recruitment 2021:

Education Qualification: 

A candidate must have –
i) possessed M.B.B.S. or equivalent Degree from a Medical College or Medical Institution recognized by the Medical Council of India
ii)  have possessed a valid registration certificate under the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961(0.A. 18 of 1961): provided that, if a candidate outside the State of Odisha has not registered his name under the Odisha Council of Medical Registration established under Section 3 of the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961, he shall get himself registered as per the provisions of the said Act before issue of the appointment order, and
iii) have possessed required Conversion Certificates recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) in case of candidates having Degrees from Universities of Foreign Countries.
Age Limit: 
  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 32 Years

Examination fees of OPSC Recruitment 2021:

  • Gen/OBC Candidates: Rs. 500/-
  • SC/ST Candidates: Nil

Selection process of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Recruitment 2021:

i) The selection of candidates for recruitment to the posts of Medical Officers (Assistant Surgeon) shall be adjudged on the basis of Written Test.
            The career marking evaluation will not be done as per GA&PG Department Gazette Notification No. 326, dt.22.02.2021. As this Notification has overriding effect on OM&HS Rule, 2017, GA&PG Department Circular No. 16420/Gen, dt. 28.06.2021 has been followed.
ii) The written examination shall comprise of one (01) paper of 200 marks. 
iii) There shall be 200 questions carrying one (01) mark each of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) pattern.
iv) The duration of examination shall be three (03) Hours.
v) There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.
vi) The syllabus shall be as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) Syllabus for M.B.B.S Course.
vii) The detailed syllabus along with distribution of marks is given at ANNEXURE -A. 
viii) The Commission shall prepare the list of candidates in order of merit on the basis of Written Test only which shall be equal to the no. of advertised vacancies:
        Provided that, if two or more candidates secure equal marks then the candidate securing higher marks in the MBBS examination shall find place above the others in the merit list:
        Provided further that, in case marks obtained in MBBS examination is also the same, the candidate older in age shall be placed above the younger.
